We have created a comprehensive Admissions Process that allows families to become familiar with our program, philosophy, and values before joining our community. If you have any questions about admission and enrollment, please contact our Director at Preschool@MakersPlaceSac.com

STEP ONE: AppLICATION + WAIT LIST

Start by making sure your child meets all the Preschool Admission Requirements for our site and outlined by the California Department of Social Services. We accept electronic preschool applications year-round that are free to submit online. Once you apply, you will receive an auto-response asking if you would like to add your child to our active wait list at this time. A non-refundable Admission Processing Fee of $25.00 is due for all applicants proceeding with enrollment or confirming their placement on our active wait list (we will invoice you for this).

Once your have joined our wait list, we will notify you once an enrollment option that meets your stated preferences becomes available and screen for developmental eligibility before making an enrollment offer. During our annual enrollment period each Spring, the Director will follow-up with each family who is confirmed on our wait list regarding available placements or wait list standing. Please begin here and submit your free application and then proceed to the next step.

STEP TWO: Attend an Open House

After you have submitted your application online and confirmed your wait list status, we will invite your to attend one of our scheduled Open House events that are offered onsite seasonally. This visit is for adults only and includes a full classroom tour and overview of our Preschool Program along with other related services at The Makers Place™.

While attending an Open House is not required prior to enrollment, it is strongly encouraged so parents and families can see the space, learn about our philosophy and program, and have their questions answered. Capacity will be limited to a certain number of families and these events are private, invitation-only for families already on our wait list; due to the current demand for preschool, we cannot offer private tours or Open House invitations to families that have not applied or joined our wait list. We will reach out to families on our wait list to invite them as new Open House events are scheduled.

STEP THREE: ENROLLMENT OFFERS

If an immediate opening is available, the Director will make an enrollment offer (by email and phone) and the family will have 48 hours to decide if they want to (1) continue with enrollment, (2) be added to our active waitlist, or (3) withdraw their application. Once an application has been withdrawn at any point in the selection process, the space is forfeited and the Application Processing Fee is non-refundable. Then you will proceed to step four to prepare your Admissions Packet.

If there are no immediate placements available that match your desired enrollment preferences or your child does not yet meet the Admission Requirements, your child will remain on our wait list (see Step One). The Director will notify all families on the wait list once a preferred placement becomes available.

STEP FOUR: PREPARE YOUR ADMISSION PACKET

Once placement is offered and confirmation, it is time to prepare your Admission Packet. A Cover Sheet Checklist of all required items will be provided along with an electronic copy of the Preschool Agreement to review and e-sign by the Indicated deadline. Electronic copies of all required forms will be attached to the email with the Preschool Agreement or families can pick up hard copies during operating hours or at an Open House.

This paperwork must be completed and submitted (hard copies with original signatures) along with the payment in order for enrollment to be official. We must receive a complete Admissions Packet no later than 72 hours before the student's first day of school. Each family will receive an initial invoice electronically with the Admission Processing Fee ($25.00 if not already paid) as well as the first month's tuition and the initial Enrollment and Materials Fee ($150.00) that is collected annually ($100.00 for returning students). These payments are not refundable or transferrable as they guarantee placement for the contracted period.

STEP FIVE: Official Enrollment

Once we have a complete Admissions Packet on file along with a paid initial invoice, a student Is confirmed officially enrolled. Before the first day of school, at least one parent/guardian must participate in a mandatory Family Orientation onsite or virtually prior to their start date. This Orientation is designed to help prepare your family for active participation in our Preschool Program and will familiarize you with our policies, procedures, and expectations. These sessions are for adults only so please arrange for childcare if you plan to attend in person. For mid-year enrollment, the Director can schedule a private meeting with each family as needed. If a student graduates or transitions out of our program, we will notify the next applicant on our active wait list to offer placement throughout the year.

STEP SIX: Re-Enrollment

Returning students and siblings of current students that have applied receive priority enrollment for all subsequent academic years. For currently enrolled students, we check in with each family in February to see if you plan to re-enroll your child in our program for the following year. If so, each child is guaranteed their current placement or can request enrollment changes. Their enrollment is confirmed once they sign a new Preschool Agreement and pay their re-enrollment invoice ($100.00 Re-Enrollment and Materials Fee and September tuition, both non-refundable) by the re-enrollment deadline. We also offer preferred enrollment for incoming siblings of continuing students if the sibling is already on our wait list and meets the readiness requirements to begin in September.
